Insurance Sales Manager

Ref: 4513| Posted: 28th Aug 2026

Lead the leaders. Shape the performance. Influence the growth.

Insure Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting an experienced Insurance Sales Manager for a successful, award-winning and rapidly growing insurance business.

This is a genuine second-line leadership opportunity, giving you responsibility for four established Team Managers and their wider sales teams, with the scope to influence performance across a sizeable insurance sales operation.

What you'll get

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible management role where you'll have real ownership, influence and autonomy, rather than simply managing the day-to-day performance of an individual sales team.

You'll benefit from:

  • £65,000 basic salary + OTE circa £83,000
  • Second-line leadership responsibility for four Team Managers and their wider teams
  • The opportunity to develop and shape the management layer, rather than directly managing advisers
  • Genuine influence over sales performance, customer outcomes, quality and operational improvement
  • Exposure to and collaboration with senior leadership
  • The opportunity to help shape a growing Commercial Insurance operation
  • Hybrid working – three days in the London office and two days from home
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays
  • Private healthcare and wellbeing benefits
  • Pension and life assurance
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Fully funded CII qualifications and development
  • Additional employee benefits and incentives

If you've progressed beyond first-line management and are looking for a role where you can lead through other managers, influence a larger operation and play a meaningful part in its continued growth, this could be a particularly interesting next step.

The opportunity

Rather than directly managing a team of advisers, your focus will be on coaching and developing your Team Managers, driving performance through them and creating consistently high-performing teams.

You'll have the autonomy to identify where performance can improve, use data and MI to determine where management attention should be focused and help your managers get the very best from their people.

Alongside the sales leadership element, you'll bring strong insurance knowledge and act as a senior point of support for Commercial Insurance, broking and placement decisions, while developing strong relationships with insurer partners.

This is also a highly visible leadership role. You'll spend three days each week in the London office and should genuinely enjoy being present on the sales floor, supporting your managers and creating the energy, accountability and standards needed within a successful sales environment.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Leading four Team Managers, delivering sales, customer and quality performance across their teams
  • Coaching and developing your managers, strengthening leadership capability and raising performance
  • Setting clear expectations around sales, behaviours, quality, compliance and customer outcomes
  • Identifying performance gaps and ensuring managers address them effectively
  • Using MI, data and sales insight to improve conversion, productivity and customer outcomes
  • Acting as a senior technical and placement authority for day-to-day Commercial Insurance decisions
  • Supporting managers with complex broking, technical and placement cases
  • Building strong trading relationships with insurers and underwriters
  • Helping determine where resource and management attention should be focused across the operation
  • Driving continuous improvement through data, insight and structured testing
  • Maintaining high regulatory, compliance and quality standards
  • Working closely with senior leadership as the operation continues to grow and evolve

What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Proven experience leading managers within a sales environment – rather than solely managing a team of advisers
  • A strong background within insurance
  • Experience within a call centre, contact centre or telesales environment
  • A track record of developing managers and improving team performance
  • Strong coaching and performance-management capability
  • A sales-driven, energetic and visible leadership style
  • The ability to balance commercial performance with compliance, quality and good customer outcomes
  • Resilience and adaptability within a fast-paced, growing and changing business

Commercial Insurance experience is highly desirable, particularly across SME/micro-SME risks such as Commercial Property, Commercial Combined, tradesmen, hospitality and contractors.

However, we're also keen to hear from strong insurance sales leaders from other product areas who have the right second-line management experience.

Experience with Acturis, E-Trade platforms, Salesforce and insurer/underwriter relationship management would be advantageous.

Cert CII is desirable but not essential, with full funding and support available to complete the qualification.

Interested?

If you're already leading managers within insurance sales and want your next role to give you greater influence, visibility and genuine ownership of performance across a growing operation, we'd love to hear from you.
