Insurance Advisor – Launch Your Insurance Career

Ref: 4535| Posted: 4th Nov 2026

If you've built your career in a busy restaurant, hotel, bar or on a sales floor, you already have the skills to be a great Insurance Advisor. This is your chance to turn them into a long-term professional career, with full training, recognised qualifications and a clear path to progress.

Our client is a major, well-known insurance broking brand with an established local team in Taunton. You don't need any insurance experience. They'll teach you the insurance; you bring the people skills.

Why your experience counts

The best advisors can read a customer, stay calm under pressure and close the conversation well. You already do that every day.

What you do now How it works in insurance
Keeping guests happy on a packed Saturday night Handling a steady flow of calls and enquiries with a smile in your voice
Upselling the wine pairing or the room upgrade Spotting extra cover a customer needs
Hitting sales targets and handling objections Turning warm enquiries into policies
Building regulars who come back Renewing customers year after year
Working fast as part of a team Juggling quotes, renewals and changes with the local team

The role: consultative selling, no cold calling

This is a fast-paced sales role where you speak to customers all day, and every lead is warm. Customers come to you through inbound enquiries, already looking for cover. On average, advisors convert 6 out of every 10 inbound enquiries into a sale.

Your job is to listen, understand what the customer needs and recommend the right cover. It's consultative selling: helpful, honest advice that builds trust and brings customers back each year.

Your day will include:

  • Speaking with new and existing customers about their personal insurance
  • Giving quotes and explaining the cover options
  • Turning warm inbound enquiries into new business
  • Handling renewals and policy changes
  • Spotting where customers need extra cover
  • Working with insurers to get the right outcome for your customer
  • Building long-term relationships that keep customers coming back

What you'll learn

You'll get full training to become a qualified insurance professional.

  • Open market broking. As a broker, you're not tied to one insurer. You'll learn to compare the market and find the best cover and price for each customer, using your employer's established relationships with insurers.
  • Product and technical knowledge. Home, motor and other personal insurance products, and how to explain them simply.
  • Cert CII. You'll be supported to gain the Certificate in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute, the industry's recognised professional qualification. From there you can go on to the Diploma and Advanced Diploma.
  • Ongoing training. Structured learning alongside an experienced local team you'll sit with every day.

Who we're looking for

You might be a restaurant, bar or hotel manager, a front of house lead, a sales executive or a retail salesperson. What matters most is that you:

  • Love talking to people and are confident on the phone
  • Have a track record of selling, upselling or hitting targets
  • Are organised and can keep several things moving at once
  • Want to learn and build a proper long-term career

Hours and where you'll work

You'll be based in the Taunton office, working closely with the local team. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, plus one Saturday morning in every two answering phone enquiries, with time off in lieu. No late nights, no split shifts.

Pay and benefits

  • Competitive salary and reward package
  • Generous holiday allowance, increasing with service
  • Full training and support towards CII qualifications
  • Healthcare and wellbeing benefits
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Retail, lifestyle and gym discounts
  • Insurance and financial product discounts
  • Long-term career opportunities within a global insurance group
