Remote (moving to hybrid) | Monthly Team Meet-ups | Career Progression Opportunity

We’re working with a growing, forward-thinking insurer who are genuinely investing in their people. Whether you’re already underwriting or coming from a broking background, this is a brilliant opportunity to step into (or step up within) underwriting with training, support, and clear progression.

The Opportunity

You’ll be working across non-standard household risks, gaining exposure to more complex cases, making real underwriting decisions, and learning from experienced professionals who want to see you succeed.

The role is currently fully remote, with one in-person team meet-up each month. As the business grows, there are plans to establish an office in Manchester, with a longer-term move towards a hybrid working model (3 days per week in the new office).

What really makes this role stand out is the timing. You’re not just joining a team - you’re coming in at the point of an exciting product launch, where things are building, evolving, and gaining real momentum.

You’ll be working on a growing non-standard proposition, backed by established market leaders - giving you the best of both worlds: innovation and stability.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assessing new business and renewal household risks
  • Analysing non-standard factors such as claims history, property type, and exposure
  • Making underwriting decisions within authority levels
  • Building strong relationships with brokers and internal teams
  • Supporting senior underwriters and developing your technical skills
  • Contributing to underwriting strategy and continuous improvement

Who We’re Looking For

We’re open-minded — it’s all about potential and attitude.

You could be:

  • An Underwriter or Assistant Underwriter with around 2 years’ experience (home or personal lines)
  • Someone with exposure to non-standard risks (ideal, but not essential)
  • From a non-standard household broking background, looking to move into underwriting
  • Experienced in new business underwriting (a strong advantage)

Most importantly: you’re analytical, motivated, and ready to develop your underwriting career.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Training & support - genuine progression into underwriting
  • Remote-first with a clear future hybrid pathway
  • Exposure to complex, interesting risks
  • A collaborative, knowledgeable team environment
  • The chance to be part of something new, growing, and genuinely exciting

Benefits

  • Competitive starting salary
  • Full support for professional insurance qualifications
  • 22 days holiday (increasing with service)
  • Pension scheme
  • Death in service benefit
  • Travel insurance
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Regular social events & staff incentives
