Graduate/Assistant Scheme Underwriter – Guildford – up to £23,000

Great opportunity for a graduate or insurance professional looking to get into a more technical role.

Our client is looking for a strong candidate to support the Product Manager in the review and production of all policy/product documents.

Support the accurate and orderly onboarding & renewal of product schemes.

Support the Underwriting & Broking Director in facilitating underwriting ‘Best Practice’ across the range of insurers and clients within the portfolio.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

To support the Product Manager in the following areas:

In relation to the review, mark-up and typesetting of product documents which will include:

Policy Wordings

Terms of Business Agreements

Certificates

IPIDS

Assist in proofreading website content to ensure websites are in line with changes made to product documents when required

Proof-reading new/amended documents

 

Underwriting

Provide support in responding to email referrals & manage internal and external queries. This includes referral to Insurers where required.

Maintain the correct administration & filing for the Insurer & product files

Assist in the generation of scheme performance data using company systems.

Keep up to date with the company’s products and relevant external events that could affect underwriting decisions

Make confident decisions in line with business rules and processes.

To always present the company in a professional and confident manner

Work closely with Operations in relation to Compliance matters

Provide support to the Client Services Manager in relation to system rating & testing

 

Other duties & responsibilities

Undertaking the online training courses provided by the company using the Broker Assess system

Other tasks as reasonably required by the company

Support the Company's new business development strategy.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Understand how to implement processes and procedures. Can confidently manage  priorities effectively.

Able to produce consistently high-quality information within tight deadlines.

Demonstrates strong attention to detail.

Capable of managing relationships – internal and external at all levels within business.

Have a desire to learn new skills and challenge the ‘status quo’ to develop personal and achieve business objectives.

Take an active role in supporting and maintaining the company values and culture.

Have good PR/interpersonal skills, have outstanding communication and reporting skills, problem analysis and listening ability.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• GCSE Level (or higher) strong Pass in English Language and Mathematics

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE –preferable but not essential

• Degree or Higher National Diploma

• Ideally 1 year Insurance or Financial Services Industry experience but not essential as full training to be provided

  • Salary £20-£23Kpa

  • 20 days starting rising by one day per year up to 25 days + bank holidays
