As part of a newly created IT & Marketing team working for a thriving Insurance business, the successful candidate will be working alongside a PHP Developer, taking ownership of all Frontend responsibilities for developing and maintaining all of the companies websites and insurance quote engines.
We are seeking a commercial focused, team player who has excellent time management skills and displays willingness to learn from experiences and new situations.
Daily duties include

Work with colleagues and clients to understand website requirements and client needs

Work with the designer to create website layouts to organise information and allow for
intuitive usage

Ensure websites look, feel and function as expected

Build and maintain websites by writing code, designing pages and widgets and incorporating graphics and video elements.

Design and build all web content “mobile-first”

Determine the best plug-ins and applications to provide websites with new features and functionality and instal them accordingly
-
Test websites using a variety of browsers and debug as necessary
-
Maintain websites by checking for errors, broken links and security breaches
-
Write, test and debug code and applications

Maintain knowledge of programming languages and monitor website analytics
-
Stay abreast of latest technological enhancements to ensure online trading platforms remain ahead of the competition

Involvement in the creation of app-based technologies

Maintain change control logs and regular website backups
-
Build HTML emails and take responsibility for sending regular campaigns
-
Assess website security and install updated software and security certificates to ensure that websites and client data remain secure

Troubleshoot, investigate and fix bugs and issues identified by customers
-
Keep abreast of latest algorithm updates in so far as they affect user experience (UX) and website speed

Act as a focal point for user experience (UX) and suggest and implement changes to improve the customer journey

Job Specific Competencies:
Qualifications

Educated to degree level or equivalent
-
Proven track record in a web development role
-
Diplomas or certificates in relevant programming languages would be an advantage
Experience

Solid knowledge and experience in programming applications

Good understanding of content management systems

User experience (UX)

User interface (UI)
-
Visual design
-
Coding languages including HTML and CSS

Frontend web programming languages and skills such as JavaScript and Ajax
-
Backend web programming languages such as C# or Java, PHP and Ruby would be an advantage
