An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Account Manager to join a successful and growing commercial insurance team based in London.
This is a varied, client-focused role where you'll manage your own portfolio of commercial insurance clients, delivering exceptional service across renewals, new business and mid-term adjustments. You'll build long-term relationships with clients and insurers, providing expert advice and ensuring the highest standards of customer care.
As a senior member of the team, you'll also provide technical support to colleagues where required, share best practice and work collaboratively with Account Executives and insurers to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. There are no formal line management responsibilities, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Account Handler or Account Manager looking to broaden their technical involvement whilst remaining focused on client relationships.
Working closely with senior management, you'll contribute to maintaining high service standards, operational excellence and continued client retention within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance clients across a diverse range of industries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and key stakeholders.
- Handle renewals, new business enquiries, mid-term adjustments and day-to-day account servicing.
- Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the client lifecycle.
- Negotiate with insurers to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships through cross-selling and account development.
- Ensure high levels of client retention through proactive account management.
Renewals & Account Servicing
- Manage the end-to-end renewal process for your portfolio.
- Prepare market presentations and negotiate competitive terms with insurers.
- Produce accurate client documentation within agreed service levels.
- Work closely with Account Executives to deliver tailored insurance solutions.
- Handle technical referrals and support complex commercial risks where required.
- Maintain regular communication with clients throughout the renewal process.
Technical Support & Team Collaboration
- Act as a technical point of contact for colleagues when required.
- Provide guidance on complex commercial risks and policy wordings.
- Share best practice and technical knowledge across the commercial team.
- Support colleagues during busy renewal periods where appropriate.
- Assist with onboarding new team members by sharing systems and process knowledge.
- Work collaboratively to ensure excellent client outcomes and service delivery.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all work complies with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate client records and policy documentation.
- Adhere to internal processes and quality standards.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to regulatory compliance and customer outcomes.
- Ensure all client documentation is accurate, compliant and issued within agreed timescales.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Make effective use of Acturis and internal business systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and client service.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in processes and ways of working.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience within Commercial Insurance Account Handling or Account Management.
- Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of commercial insurance products.
- Experience managing commercial renewals, new business and client portfolios.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong insurer negotiation experience.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
- Good understanding of FCA regulations and Consumer Duty.
- Experience using Acturis.
Desirable
- Cert CII qualified or working towards professional qualifications.
- Experience supporting colleagues with technical queries.
- Acturis super user experience
- Experience working with SME and Mid-Corporate commercial clients.
