Our fantastic client, who have offices based in Surrey are now looking for an experienced Legal Expenses ATE Underwriter to join their vibrant and robust team! Our client works in partnership with leading UK law firms, providing innovative solutions to ensure they are fully enabled to provide the highest quality access to justice for their clients.

This role will mainly focus on managing delegated authority schemes, underwriting new risks and developing new business opportunities. You will be required to master and implement our underwriting guidelines and to demonstrate a detailed understanding of risk exposure and appetite.

You will also be required to attend annual audits, visit our clients for business meetings which will help develop your interpersonal skills and your business acumen.

This role would suit someone who is naturally inquisitive and who is a competent problem solver. We believe in our team and building long term career plans together, through positive and constructive feedback, annual salary reviews and provision of continual professional development (CPD) training.

Essential skills/experience required 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of ATE legal expenses insurance; or have worked as a legal practitioner
  • It is preferred, although not essential that you have a legal or insurance qualification such as a law degree, conversion, CILEx or CII
  • Team Player
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Problem Solving.

You will also be required to undertake ongoing training in order to keep up to date with technical, legal and market developments. However, the company believes strongly in developing its people, and fully supporting - and providing - continual professional training and development. This includes payment towards CII or CILEx qualifications, and study and exam leave.
