An unmissable opportunity is available right now for a talented assistant underwriter to give your career a genuine boost with a fast-growing, highly inclusive organisation. As part of a thriving underwriting team, your role will be crucial to maintaining and strengthening the team’s Underwriting processes and performance.

This role will best suit a candidate who is resourceful, brilliant with analytical and technical detail, brings good insurance knowledge, thrives on variety, and can absorb significant volumes of information from across a range of sources. Initiative and strong problem-solving skills are essential.

Working alongside leading industry talent, you’ll be able to hone your proven analytical skills and demonstrate your sound judgment. This is the perfect role for a candidate who is motivated, compassionate, and a true team player. Make the role your own and there will be significant potential for growth.

Ideally, candidates will have experience in policy wording. However, we will also consider you if you:

  • Have a general insurance background but have had exposure to working with policies and are seeking to pivot into a niche area; or
  • Come from a legal background or claims environment - or have recently graduated - and can demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a solid set of transferable skills and strong motivation for an insurance career.

You will ideally need working knowledge of the general insurance market as well as:

  • FCA Rules: particularly, those relating to sales, marketing and GDPR and consumer duty.
  • Practical interpretation of the FCA’s Principles for business.
  • The Company’s Complaints Procedure, Financial Ombudsman’s Scheme and Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

The role is office-based, and the competitive starting salary will depend on your experience. You can expect a good holiday allowance and an attractive benefits package.

There is considerable opportunity for your training and development. This includes support for you to take CII qualifications. Full product training will be provided for you on all relevant aspects of the companies’ insurance products.

As a minimum, you should have a strong pass in GCSE English Language and Mathematics; and have intermediate/advanced Excel/MS Office skills. A degree or Higher National Diploma would be preferable but not essential.

At Insure Recruitment, we work with clients who are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. So, if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification or criteria in the above description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be exactly what we’re looking for in this or other roles.

Please apply for the role by submitting your most up-to-date CV. If your application is successful, we will be in touch within 2 working days of receiving your job application to discuss the opportunity in more detail.

Due to the overwhelming application response, should you not hear from us within 5 working days then please assume that your application has been unsuccessful.
