A well-established and growing specialist MGA is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to join their close-knit marine team. This is a fantastic fully remote opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in underwriting within a highly respected niche insurer, offering real exposure to the full policy lifecycle and clear progression routes.
The role
You will play a key role in the renewals process for a busy and profitable yacht portfolio, working closely with brokers, insurers and direct clients to ensure a smooth and efficient service from terms through to documentation.
Duties will include:
- Managing the end-to-end renewals process to maximise retention.
- Preparing and issuing renewal terms to brokers and clients.
- Processing risks, premiums and policy documentation.
- Ensuring accurate data capture across internal systems and spreadsheets.
- Chasing insurers for documentation and maintaining service level standards.
- Supporting general underwriting and administrative activities.

We are keen to speak with professionals who are:
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Ideally some experience in marine or yacht insurance is highly desirable.
- Confident communicators (written and verbal).
- Customer-focused with a professional telephone manner.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a remote environment.
- Numerate and IT-literate (Excel and policy systems experience beneficial).
- Able to manage workloads and meet deadlines independently.
Previous insurance experience is highly desirable, particularly within underwriting support, renewals, broking or operations. Exposure to Acturis or similar systems would be advantageous but is not essential.
Benefits include:
- Remote Work: Enjoy the flexibility of working remotely with full support and setup.
- Competitive Compensation (DOE).
- Comprehensive Benefits: 25 days of annual leave + bank holidays, private pension enrolment after one year of service.
- Professional Development: Opportunities for career development and industry certifications, including support towards CII qualifications.
